The following is from a lecture given by Rudolf Steiner in Dornach, Switzerland in late September 1917 – three years into the First World War. The original title of the lecture is The Driving Forces Behind Europe’s War, the content of which is overall extremely relevant to our time – 104 years later in 2021. I have included the entire lecture. The blurred portions are very specific to 1917 so I abstracted them out, to avoid distracting from the point I am making.
