A Brief Study of Origen
Origen of Alexandria (c. 184 – c. 253) was an early Christian scholar, ascetic, and theologian who was born and spent the first half of his career in Alexandria. He was a prolific writer who wrote roughly 2,000 treatises in multiple branches of theology, including textual criticism, biblical exegesis and hermeneutics, homiletics, and spirituality. He was one of the most influential figures in early Christian theology, apologetics, and asceticism. He has been described as “the greatest genius the early church ever produced”. (more…)

Roll the bones
The rock band Rush is perhaps my all time favorite band. The lyrics of drummer Neil Peart (RIP) are incredible, especially Clockwork Angels. But I digress. The lyrics above are from the song “Roll the Bones.” Many have characterized the meaning of the song as “we don’t know why things happen, but we shouldn’t worry just Roll the Bones and move on.” As easy to understand and accept as that might be, I believe it’s not so simple. In this post I hope to bring some light to fate, destiny and our free will. (more…)
