Our Time
Our time is one when the darkness that inevitably had to hold sway has run its course, and when a new light, the light of spiritual life, must shine forth. The hope initially would be that many people would in their hearts and souls feel with all the seriousness at their command that this is a necessity for our time, and that what is going on around us and calls forth such sorrow in our time is connected with all these questions. It is already becoming clear that it is not enough to look at things only on the surface, that it is inadequate to speak about the causes of what is going on at present on the basis of superficial observations. For as long as people speak only about what lies on the surface, they will not find the thoughts or be able to develop the impulses that have the potency to lead forth from the obscurity which has been the cause of everything that is happening now.
