Why all of this Chaos?
In spite of the fact that Rudolf Steiner shared the following in a lecture on September 29, 1917, one year prior to the launch of the Meuse Argonne Offensive on September 26, 1918 which subsequently led to the end of the war, his words ring true even today.
So often we believe God to “be on our side” of wars and conflicts when in reality God is on everyone’s “side” so long as they open up to the Truth of the Spiritual realities that stand behind – and are responsible for the existence of – our physical world. What happens when a child refuses to appeal themselves to the guidance of their parent?
Everything is connected through the principle of cause and effect, for each cause of one thing is merely the effect of something else, going back to the very beginning. So what is the effect of ignoring the spiritual realms? Let’s see what Steiner has to say.
Chaos has arisen because the reality is considered in an unspiritual way and the world of the spirit cannot be ignored with impunity. You may think it is enough to live with thoughts and ideas that are wholly derived from the physical world. It is what people generally think today, though this does not make it true. The most completely and utterly wrong idea humanity has ever had is — to put it simply — that the spirits will put up with being ignored. You may consider it egotistical and selfish on their part, but the terminology is different in their world. Egotism or not, the spirits take their revenge if they are ignored here on earth. This is a law, an iron necessity. One way to characterize the present time is to say that the present human chaos is the revenge of the spirits who have been ignored for too long.
