Slave or Master – the Choice is Yours
We have been so trained over the past 3 generations to live dependent on “convenience.” We now expect other people to take care of the difficult things in life so we can be “free” to do what we want i.e. “enjoy” bread and circuses. We give the power to teach our children to the state-run institutions. We give the power over our own bodily and mental health to a for-profit industry. We give the “protection” of our “stuff” (bread and circuses) over to a now-fully-corrupt criminal organization, run by the same state that teaches our children. We trust our nutrition to easy-to-make processed foods, preserved, genetically modified and packaged for convenience by an industry that uses poisons to increase their production and thus their profits. We give over the care of not only our elders but those who require special care – and love – to another for-profit industry simply so our own lives are not so-burdened. We have “freely” given up our privacy to the god of “security”, enforced by those same organizations to whom we trust the protection of what we have come to believe is our personal property and the education of our children. We have thrown away our “faith” in self-governance to small groups of persons who now rule virtually every single aspect of our lives.
Why do we do all of this? The answer, at its core, is simple. We have allowed, and continue to allow, all of this due to our chosen ignorance of the following fact. Were we to realize within ourselves the deep truth of the following, we would be empowered with a certain power of vision to see what is behind the veil of all of the world’s evil. We would realize that it has been that chosen ignorance that has blinded us and we would therefore stand poised with our hand on the hem of the curtain, ready to pull it aside and reveal the truth, this truth:
“There are forces that are actively working to pull humanity down, rather than to pull it up (back toward the spiritual). These ahrimanic and asuric influences are working in the world amongst us, they are not vague ghostly effects but societal realities.”
And here is the key to why this is so difficult: Were we to choose to take on this battle, this war for our very soul, we would find that the battlefield is not “out there,” but rather inside each one of us. These ahrminamic (and very worse – asuric) influences are not an enemy we can stare in the face – unless that face is in the mirror. Their influence flows in our veins, work through our desires, passions, even our supposed “needs.” They know our hidden weaknesses and prey upon that part of us that we justify as “just being human.” Like the alcoholic who finally decides he must abstain and clean himself up suffers excruciating pain in the process of recovery, we too must face the pain of separation from all we “hold dear in this material life.” For we are not physical beings that once in a while have a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. And those said forces that work against us – from inside our very being – would have us become so very hardened to this physical existence that our ever returning to the higher reality of our spiritual home becomes near impossible.
So how and from where can we ever find the strength to break the chains of these overwhelming influences on our own if the battle is to be fought alone, inside our lone selves?
There is little use in waxing either poetic or nostalgic or religious on the answer to that question. For those same forces have succeeded in turning the raw truth of that answer into folly and ridicule too deeply in the material-minds of the masses. The better answer for those who only possess an inkling of desire to break free and are decidedly willing to face the struggle ahead in so doing is that you already possess the strength within you. In a real sense you are the master of your destiny. In a very real sense you do have the power over these forces. You are free to choose the high road over the low road. Because the battle rages within you and nowhere else, you can choose to be master of that battle – no matter what may occur on the outside. It simply requires courage. And such courage becomes the power of redemption – redemption of your own being from slave to master.
